What do we do?
We bake a little known, new to the UK, Gluten-Free Brazilian Cheese Bread known as Pao de Quiejo. It is a delicious savoury snack. Crunchy on the outside and fluffy and cloud-like within. It can be eaten hot or cold and in Brazil is enjoyed at breakfast, lunch or dinner. Having been born in Brazil, our co-founder uses only authentic and traditional recipes handed down through generations.
Why Brazilian Cheese Bread?
It is simply delicious and so convenient! We supply you the cheese bread frozen and it takes just 25 minutes in the oven to bake. It can be eaten hot for breakfast fresh out of the oven and then taken to work for lunch and eaten cold. It needs no filling, no other preparation and can be eaten on the go without any need for cutlery or napkins!
I grew up in Prima Vera do Leste, Brazil eating Pão de Queijo from an early age. I used to love it as a kid and still do now. We used to eat them with milk as a breakfast but whenever my Mum baked them we would eat them – regardless of the time of day.
I came to the UK in 2004 and had always dreamed of setting up a business producing and selling these delicious snacks. I’ve always felt that they would be very popular here as back home in Brazil there are loved by everyone. Last Christmas, my family were all over from Brazil and I was going to introduce my boyfriend to them. I thought Pão de Queijo was a good option to serve on our first family meeting. Joel fell in love with the Cheesebreads! He ate all 20 that I had baked and still wanted more. Well, I felt I had started something I couldn’t stop – he was addicted! It was the first time Brazilian Cheesebread had made me “jealous”. After Joel became addicted, he was always saying we should introduce Pão de Queijo to the UK market, He was convinced that everyone would love them as much as he did. One day he had Pão de Qqueijo for breakfast, lunch and dinner and at the time I suggested he would need Pão de Queijo “rehab”. It made my mind up once and for all to introduce Brazilian Cheesebread to the UK. So in 2016, we started to put together an initial strategy for our business and producing Pão de Queijo from home initially . And so the brand “ The Brazilian Cheese Bread House” was created.
Cheese bread reminds me of family, my childhood and whenever I have that feeling I deserve to eat something tasty, filling and comforting the first thing that comes to my mind is Pão de Queijo. They take just 25 minutes to cook from frozen in the oven, so they are easy, quick and delicious. I dare you to eat just one – you’ll be addicted – just like we are!
What is Brazilian Cheesebread or Pao de Queijo?
Pão de Queijo is a traditional Brazilian recipe, from the state of Minas Gerais, where my dad was born and raised. Cheesebread may refer to a variety of small, baked, cheese rolls and it’s popular for breakfast and afternoon snack in Brazil along with a “cafézinho” in Brazilian Portuguese, meaning “a little coffee”. Now, you might have had some sort of bread with cheese baked into it before, but what sets this recipe apart from any other kind of cheese-infused baked goods, is the Tapioca flour. Tapioca is typically grown in the north of Brazil and is sold throughout the country, making its way into much of Brazilian cuisine. The Tapioca flour used to make Pão de Queijo is slightly sour and gives the bread its signature chewy texture. The savoury flavour of the flour nicely complements the cheese that is baked into the bread, and since it’s made with Tapioca flour, Pão de Queijo is Gluten-Free!
Each Brazilian Cheese Bread contains no Gluten or any type of nut.
